A setting of Henry King’s (1592 –1669) poem, Sic Vita was written for Genesis Sixteen as part of Cheltenham Music Festival 2015. The piece uses a combination of superimposed modalities, trochees and dactyls to build a rich sonority which develops to a central climax before resolving into a dissonant and unsettling texture, mirroring the structure of the poem.
