We Waited Until Time Was No More
Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Cello and Percussion (6 mins)
We Waited Until Time Was No More focuses on performer agency as a central theme, and the social dynamic of a chamber music setting is amplified allowing the nuanced interactions between instruments to sustain the piece. There is no metre or traditional time-keeping method, which allows the piece to be guided by ‘musical’ time rather than metric constraints.
The piece is scored for a mixed quartet of Bb Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Cello and assorted Percussion; Snare Drum, single Crotale, ‘biro cap whistle’ and Metallic Resonator. It was originally composed for United Instruments of Lucilin (Luxembourg), but sadly the performance couldn’t go ahead due to pandemic restrictions.
